When building a reclaimed timber pool table one can not help but be in awe by the fact that these timbers were cut by hand. Over the years I have seen a number of wood species used for these timbers. To name a few, White/Red Oaks, Poplar, Chestnut, Cherry, Maple, and Ash are the most common. Black Walnut is another that is found from time to time.
When these beams stand in a barn for 150+ years they acquire a patina in the wood. The color of this patina is in the brown palette. Depending on the species of wood this patina will vary from a light brown all the way to a wonderful dark chocolate. We take great care during the built to preserve as much of the antique charactor as possible. When seeking out these timbers we place strive to find timbers with the original mortise and tenons.
While these tables might be classified as a rustic design we have built them for a wide range of home decors. If rustic is not your style perhaps a more contemporary design like our Live Edge pool tables would be. If you have an idea for a custom pool table and would like to explore your options of having it built, we would love to here from you.
